Sender

Sender is a false friend which has nothing to do with the English term sender, meaning the person who sends a letter or parcel. Sender most commonly means a TV or radio broadcasting station such as ARD or ZDF in Germany and the BBC or ITV in Britain.

On the other hand, a person sending a letter would write Absender above their own address on the back of an envelope to show who the letter is from.
